Tea break + dinner

Yet another blog post about food by me… I know plenty out there who likes to mock me (it’s either why you everyday all about food one ah?/why you always eat non-stop?/why you such big appetite?) … Well, if you can’t handle me and my food, feel free to click “X” on your top right and leave. I’m just one of the many food bloggers out there. I also got a lot of people saying to me that I’m a big eater. For your information, just because I’m the one who publishes all these photos, it does not mean I’m the only one eating. I eat with the company I went to the food places with. But yeah, what do you know? So stop being a sour grape, shut up, enjoy and drool :) Oh, and I’m glad if any of  my food reviews has been helpful to you (to those who actually knows how to appreciate). I hope to constantly share about gastronomic delights with food lovers out there :)

Today, my sister, her friend and me went to Starhill for our tea break. We went to Shook restaurant and Fisherman’s Cove. Both are situated at the Feast floor.

I hate this photo of mine because I looked like some sick person here, don’t you think so? But this was the only nice photo taken… ah wells. Anyways this was taken at Shook! Restaurant.

This spacious restaurant is popular with the sophisticated crowd and it boasts a fanciful ambience, good food and live jazz music. Emphasis is placed on an interactive, see-through and sensory dining experience with extravagant display counters and the ability to watch the chefs in action in all four show kitchens.

Banana cake with vanilla ice cream. It tasted nice and up to standard but I’m not a big fan of banana cakes.

This is my favourite dish! Aglio e Olio. But not everyone, or every restaurant for that matter, can cook a decent plate of aglio olio, especially not commercialised restaurants. This  however tasted very delightful except for the prawns, sadly. In my opinion, the prawns are not really fresh. But other than that, I really enjoyed this dish.

IMG_1740

Teriyaki chicken burger which tasted normal.

 IMG_1742

Pizza! The colours looks so inviting, eh? But I’m not all crazy about pizzas so this was just fine. Definitely a must-try for pizza lovers.

 IMG_1743

This, I do not know. It’s some Japanese dish… noodles with fish. Frankly, I don’t love nor enjoy Japanese food. So, I didn’t eat this at all, except a tablespoon of the soup.

Expresso. My sister ordered this because she knows I love and drink coffee. Well, this one is foamy, obviously. Espresso tends to be very thick and concentrated, so we added like 3 cubes of brown sugar and it turned out just nice.

Next, we head over to Fisherman’s Cove.

 IMG_1754

The interior design there is quite lovely.  You can sit beside the sails of a boathouse amidst bamboo furniture in a rustic setting and get a feel of a fisherman's lifestyle as you savour the delightful gems from the seas, specially prepared by the crew in the open-concept kitchen.

 IMG_1755

You can pick out the catch of the day from the fish tanks fronting the kitchen and then choose how you would like it to be prepared, either as sashimi or cooked in various ways including slow poached, chargrilled, steamed, or pan-fried.

 IMG_1757

This is tau hu hua (Hokkien). You get to actually taste the flavour of tofu as the original taste is not lost and the brown sugar complements it just nice.

 IMG_1758

Mashed potato with mushrooms and gravy. This was really delectable but if there is anything I can complain, is that they should have been more generous with the gravy.

 IMG_1759

 IMG_1760

Pumpkin soup which was quite popular and many had recommended it… It is definitely up to our expectations.

 IMG_1761

I’m not one for lamb chops… I always choose chicken instead (which my sister complains I eat too much chicken), with one reason, it’s hard to cut and it takes time, and if you’re not very good at doing so, you’ll send your meat flying over to some poor stranger’s face. Anyhow, this lamb chop tasted succulent! Definitely thumbs up :)

p/s: Wouldn’t it be nice if you ate with a boyfriend who cuts it for you? (I got this idea from Boys Over Flowers drama. sigh. Are guys like this non-existent?!)

Later on, for our dinner, we went to a place called “My Favourite Dessert”.

 IMG_1762

Contrary to its name, it does not only serve desserts but other food as well.

 IMG_1763

I had chicken porridge with century egg. (chicken, again) I haven’t had century egg for ages and I was craving for it! This was cheap and appetizing.

 IMG_1764

My sister had bee hoon and I think this was equally as yummy too! I love bee hoons that looked like this… very chinese-y.

 IMG_1765

For our dessert, we had milo loh.   This was quite sinful as there was abundant milo powder and not to mention, tiny bars of kit-kat chocolate. It’s nice but too sweet for my liking. If you order this, you must share it with someone else.

So that’s it for my food post for today! I hope you enjoy looking at them just as much as I enjoy savouring each of them. HAHAHA. Till then, goodnights!
